Gordon Sommerville

Gordon Sommerville Gordon joined Orchard FM around 1995. However, he was already well known to most listeners as he had a long career at DevonAir Radio where, for a while, he presented "Nite Flite" which was simulcast by Orchard FM as an sustaining service. Before he joined Orchard FM he also made a special guest apperance one evening when all the usual afternoon and evening presenters were out celebrating (the audience figures I believe).

Gordon was well known for his frustrating competitions which really tested your mind. When he joined Orchard FM many listeners plagued him to re-instate his famous "Brainteaser" competition, which he did even if a little reluctantly!

Gordon did not stay at Orchard FM very long, maybe 6 months or a year at the most. He left as he was offered a good pesentation job, which included management duties, at Fame 1521 in Crawley, Sussex. Sadly, shortly after he joined, the station switched to "automated output". However, I did manage to catch one of his shows and he sounded on-form as usual, albeit he was on during the day and most people I spoke to felt Gordon was at his peak in the evenings!

Gordon's last record on Orchard FM was: Paul Young - "Come Back and Stay". An ironic choice of final song, chosen by the computer, apparently!

I have no idea what Gordon is upto these days!
