Bob McCreadie

Bob McCreadie Bob McCreadie joined Orchard FM shortly after it's launch in 1989. He was an instant hit with many listeners due to his bubbly on-air personality. He presented the weekday breakfast show single-handidly and it was one of the few shows on at that time of day that did not have some dreary "crew" - Orchard FM often claimed that this was the most listened to Breakfast Show in the whole of the United Kingdom.

Bob is famously remembered by many people for his "Mangled Musical Morsel" competition which was still being run on Orchard FM by the new presenters of the show until recently.

When Phil Easton left Orchard FM in 1997 Bob took over as Programme Controller and, in my opinion, the station seemed to start heading in a different direction. However, like or dislike the changes....the audience figures shot up so most listeners obviously liked the new sound even if I didn't!

Bob left Orchard FM towards the end of 1999 and in a newspaper report about his departure he claimed his leaving was nothing to do with the change of management at Orchard.

The last record Bob played on Orchard FM was: Belinda Carlisle "All God's Children". A nice reminder that Orchard was traditionally a station not only playing hits but new releases regardless of chart position. This record only peaked the charts at number 66 but is a damn good song!
